The Cannibal Queen, one of the nation’s most historic aircraft, is here to give rides over New Jersey Beaches.


The Cannibal Queen, gives a ride over NJ beachesA group of aviation enthusiasts have brought one of America’s most historic airplanes to New Jersey.  “The Cannibal Queen,” a vintage 1942 open cockpit biplane, was used to train fighter pilots for the Second World War, and was the subject of Steven Coont’s book, The Cannibal Queen

Jim Lonergan, the plane’s owner, said, “I love to fly and I love flying the Queen.  I am thrilled to be able to share the experience of flight in this open-cockpit biplane with others.”  Biplane Rides over New Jersey Beaches the group who refer to themselves as “The Queen’s Current Caretakers,” have the same love and enthusiasm for the plane.

Jim and his crew share the joy of flying with other enthusiasts by giving once-in-a-lifetime flights over the New Jersey beaches and the surrounding countryside.  The front cockpit has been modified to seat two passengers.  “You just can’t imagine the sensation of flying in an open cockpit airplane until you’ve had it. “said recent passenger Sean Kelley.  “It’s the closest thing to being a bird any of us will ever feel.”
